ENGLAND GOLF
On 16th November 2011 the merger of the English Golf Union (EGU) and the English Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) was approved at simultaneous general meetings of both organisations: the merger came into effect on 1st January 2012 and created England Golf, one national governing body to represent all amateur golfers in England.

Buckinghamshire is one of the six counties that form the Midlands South region. The other 5 counties in the Midlands South region are: Berkshire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire & Herefordshire.
The Midlands South Region Committee & Events:
COUNTY CLUB DELEGATES: Each golf club affiliated to the BCLGA appoints a Club Delegate, who will attend the quarterly Delegates' Meetings and report back to their clubs. The role of the Club Delegate is to ensure effective two way communication between England Golf, the county and the club. Most of the correspondence between the county and the clubs will be via the Club Delegates and Lady Captains.

Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Strategy
Making Golf more inclusive - our golf community joint commitment, Feb 2023
All Counties and Clubs in England are to lead by example and adopt the England Golf Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Policy. Future affiliation to England Golf is based on adopting this policy which is a fundamental prat of the EG Course Planner (strategic direction 2021-25), which sets out ambitious goals under the guiding principle to 'deliver a more inclusive and accessible sport'.
Golf belongs to everyone, to all who play and aspire to play and all must have equal opportunity to do so.
EG is providing an appropriate timeframe to allow for implementation and will allocate resources to support this process. Template EDI policies for counties and clubs can be found on the EG website here.
BCLGA is already actively working on a suitable EDI policy and we should have our accreditation in place before the Sept 2023 deadline.
All golf clubs are to adopt the EDI policy as a mandatory term of affiliation by end of 2024.
A nationwide campaign called RESPECT in golf will launch in the first half of 2023 to support this and highlight this vital initiative.

Don’t worry if you feel they need to learn more, as the team at England Golf have been working hard over the last few months on an exciting new WHS education campaign.
It features a bespoke toolkit for you, the golf clubs, to help your members know the score with the WHS.
The toolkit will become your go-to guide with a multitude of handy resources you can use at your golf club and via your digital channels. They’ve done all the hard work for you!

England Golf Campaign to give Membership a Shot!
England Golf launches a new campaign, ‘Membership: Give it a Shot’, to maximise new membership opportunities from the increased participation levels that golf has enjoyed since play resumed in May
Focussing on four core values, equality, diversity, family and community, England Golf’s membership call to action of ‘Give it a Shot’ comes to life through three key messages:
‘Play is Flexible’: As golf continues to evolve in line with modern lifestyle choices, there have never been more ways to enjoy the game – whether that is practicing at the driving range, playing a quick nine or a competitive round over 18 holes, the choice is yours.
‘Clubs are Sociable’: A hugely popular aspect of any sport and club membership is the social benefits. The opportunity to meet in a safe environment, share stories, and build lifelong friendships through the game. Golf is a game for all generations and families to enjoy together.
‘Golf is Affordable’: Golf club membership is a lot more affordable than people perceive with many membership options to suit age, lifestyle and budget.
The membership campaign will be heavily promoted by England Golf on a national scale and will provide an opportunity for every golf club in England to connect and promote their own membership benefits for new and existing members.
Part of the membership recruitment and retention campaign is an incentive for new members and existing members who refer a friend to join their club.
Members will be entered into a prize draw to win four Country Memberships at Woodhall Spa Golf Club for them and three friends, in addition to a four-ball on the Hotchkin (ranked the 54th best course in the world), a four-ball on the Bracken, a two-hour group clinic at the National Golf Centre and an overnight stay with bed and breakfast.
There are also 10 pairs of tickets for the 149th Open Championship at Royal St George’s Golf Club next year, six pairs of adidas Code Chaos Golf Shoes, and 24 dozen Titleist Pro V1 golf balls available to win.
